The neuro PA just came in and says possible rehab tomorrow! The new pain regimen is working very well. I walked with a walker in the room. And gave myself a little basin bath with assistance from my wonderful daughter. Feeling really good today. I had no idea I’d feel this good at this point. Still a long way to go to be independent and to lower pain meds. I was able to fully stand up straight on both legs, which I haven’t been able to do for quite some time due to nerve compression. So seeing positive results already.

Bowl issues continue. I’m in the recliner with pads under me and just let it flow when I have to go. Gross but necessary. Massaging my belly, moving in all directions. Coffee, water, Ensure Clear, Ensure High Protein, fruit, some bacon and jerky. Staying on top of pain regimen and sleeping when I need to. Both drains are out. Both incisions look great.

The bowel retention is absolutely horrible. It’s just the side effects of anesthesia, abdominal surgery and opioids. I prepared before surgery with Miralax daily as well as lots of water. I guess there wasn’t anything else I could’ve done.
